Volunteer Moderator and Email Intermediary™ Applications

Tell us about you!    Volunteer Profile

Volunteers at SYMC are an incredible, awe-inspiring group. From the depths of pain and loneliness, many have risen to assist others here, and in so doing, found incredible personal rewards. SYMC Volunteers™ backgrounds are varied: some just finding out about the infidelity of a spouse, others in Protection Phase, and still others well down the road to Recovery. But regardless of where they find themselves in their relationships, our volunteers all have one thing in common: a burning desire to help stamp out infidelity and to help others through the toughest challenge their marriages will ever face.

SYMC Moderators: the Moderators at SYMC, or the "Mod Squad" as they are informally known, are those dedicated individuals who spend their time reading posts on various forms to guarantee that the Code of Conduct of SYMC members is upheld and that all posters are treated with dignity and respect. Moderators are generally assigned to a particular forum as their primary responsibility, but are by no means limited to their assigned forum. Moderators work together as a team to maintain the highest standard of interaction among those who choose to post on the bulletin board.

Moderators receive in-depth training from SYMC principles, including the subject of marital infidelity and basic concepts as well as detailed training on moderating itself. All classes are conducted by teleclass.

Email Intermediaries™: Email Intermediaries™ facilitators are trained volunteers who act as third-party communicators between spouses who are separated and in Protection Phase. EI™ facilitators provide a very critical service to couples by protecting both members of the couple from the emotional trauma brought about by direct contact. The EI™ facilitator receives information from each person and passes on important communication on topics such as children and finances. It is the role of the EI™ facilitators to pass on only information that is critical and to edit out any and all emotional content.

Individuals interested in becoming Email Intermediaries™ providers are trained in basic concepts and an overview of marital infidelity and also must complete five additional hours of training specific to the role of the EI™ provider. All training is conducted by teleclass.

If you are interested in filling one of these important and rewarding roles at SYMC, please send an email to our Sharon, our Volunteer Coordinator - email
