FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Alaska Leads the Charge - Taking a Stand for Marriage Fidelity

Juneau, Alaska, September 8, 2004

Governor Frank Murkowski became the first to sign the historic Marriage Fidelity Day Proclamation last week, marking Sept. 15 as a day for Alaskans celebrate faithfulness to their marriage vows and to raise awareness of the risks of infidelity and the havoc it wreaks on families and society.

Marriage Fidelity Day is the brain child of Penny Tupy, founder and director of SYMC (Save Your Marriage Central) Global Village, Inc. a not for profit, volunteer, organization which advocates for marriage worldwide. Infidelity affects more than sixty percent of the marriages in the US with the number of women having affairs increasing drastically. “I want to do for affairs what MADD did for drinking and driving,” says Tupy. “The goal for Marriage Fidelity Day is to create a public shift where remaining faithful and monogamous becomes cool, and cheating is socially unacceptable. We address that by taking a multi faceted approach. We celebrate those who have remained faithful as well as those who have strayed and returned to the marriage, doing the very hard work of recovery. We take the position that an affair is not a love story, it’s a tragedy. We are working to raise awareness of the risk factors for having an affair and how to avoid them.”

Marriage Fidelity Day kicked off in 2004 with the drive to get the Proclamation in front of each governor in the US. Governor Murkowksi became the first state governor to sign the document and more are expected to follow in the coming week. The initiative will continue into 2005 with an added focus on activities and events around the nation. SYMC’s web site provides an extensive listing of event and activity suggestions and actively seeks partnering organizations around the country.

Fighting for Marriage Fidelity at Save Your Marriage Central

SYMC announces its drive to have each state in the nation proclaim September 15 Marriage Fidelity Day

Prescott, Wisconsin, July 6, 2004

Marriages all over the world are being devastated by the latest Julia Roberts story celebrating her pregnancy with the husband she "bought" from his former wife in a nasty divorce battle. SYMC director and marriage coach Penny Tupy deals with the impact on a daily basis. She's not shy about pointing a finger at the entertainment industry as being guilty of glorifying infidelity. "When marital infidelity among celebrities is portrayed as a love story, it demonstrates total disdain for the sanctity of marriage. We forget that real people, including innocent children, suffer very real and lasting hurt from these affairs," says Tupy from her home in Prescott, Wisconsin. Tupy brainstormed a solution to counteract the negative impact -- a national day to honor faithfulness to marital vows.

Marriage Fidelity Day is a celebration reminding us that marriage is a lifelong commitment to remain faithful in mind, body, and spirit to the covenant of marriage. Tupy and a group of volunteers are working to establish September 15th as the day set aside to honor this commitment and to highlight the destructiveness of infidelity. The initiative is well under way. More than half of the governors in US have been contacted already with favorable response. The ground-breaking initiative will move into in high gear over the next two months.

Governors receive a copy of the proclamation and a brief letter describing the initiative. The National Director for the initiative, Cindy Wolfe, will personally follow up with each of the governors' offices to answer any questions and establish a working relationship with them.

SYMC chapters around the country will sponsor the Marriage Fidelity Day Proclamation within their home states. SYMC Chapters are extension of the SYMC marriage advocacy project and coordinate events throughout the year in support of marriage and family.

SYMC is also seeking grassroots endorsement and support for the Marriage Fidelity Day drive from several groups around the country. "Changing the perception of infidelity is not something we can do alone," says Wolfe, "We are reaching out and joining forces with the many other organizations that care deeply about marriage, family and children." Tupy plans to expand these contacts when she attends and presents at the Smart Marriages Conference in Dallas later this week.

Tupy's dream and passion is to debunk the myth that an affair is a love story and to reestablish a commitment to marriage and family. Marriage Fidelity Day is a landmark event in this crusade.

Cheating Hearts and How to Mend Them at Save Your Marriage Central

Save Your Marriage Central School of Coaching is First to Offer Specialized Training for Professional Coaches on How to Save Marriages

Prescott, WI - March 2004 -- Lifeworks Coaching Service founder and marriage healer, Penny Tupy has made the perfect match.

"The needs of couples in crisis and the concepts of coaching were made for each other," she said of the new Save Your Marriage Central School of Coaching, an online program that certifies professional coaches in healing marriages, including those wounded by infidelity. Online classes begin in April. Also in the works is the first ever Marriage Fidelity Day.

"Personal coaches provide individuals with an action plan to facilitate change. These same principles can be applied to marriages in trouble and to couples dealing with infidelity," added Tupy. Save Your Marriage Central is the first program if its kind worldwide to combine the concepts and methodologies of coaching with tactics and strategies for healing marriages.

Save Your Marriage Central (SYMC) School of Coaching offers rigorous training that covers infidelity, abuse, addiction, conflict resolution, and communication. Coursework can be completed from anywhere in the world. Classes are conducted via teleclass and assignments are transmitted via email. Supervised mentoring practicum guides students through actual work with clients prior to their certification.

Why do couples need coaching to help them through heartbreak? According to Tupy, overcoming infidelity is counter-intuitive for most individuals. "Because infidelity evokes the most primal emotions it is very difficult to successfully navigate ending a spouse's affair and then move beyond to recovery without assistance."

What should you do if you discover a spouse's affair? Tupy suggests the following steps:

Take 1-2 weeks to gather information, including email and phone records. For photos or surveillance, it makes sense to hire a private investigator.

Confront the cheating spouse. Tell them what you know, how you know it, and how it makes your feel.

Confront the affair partner. In an email or postal mail, tell them what you know about the relationship, about your desire to heal your marriage, and request that the affair partner end the relationship immediately and permanently.

Ask your spouse to immediately and permanently end all contact with the affair partner and to commit to healing the marriage.

If needed, ask for help from family, friends, church leaders and others who could influence your spouse to end the affair.

Take responsibility for and address your own culpability in the decline of the marriage and be willing to make changes for the health of the marriage.

If those things do not work within 6 to 12 weeks, separate from the straying spouse until the affair ends of its own accord.
